Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero (born Patricia Apollonia Kotero) is an American actress, singer, and former model. She was the lead female vocalist in Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. The singer and actress named Apollonia by Prince became one of many female artists in the '80s to benefit from her association with the Purple One. She was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959 her career began as a model and actress in the late '70s including an appearance in the television series CHiPS. In 1984, she was a part of the main actress in Prince's Purple Rain. (During this period, she also changed her surname) Then she was replaced by Vanity from the female trio Vanity 6 who starred in the film with Apollonia 6 under their name. Sex Shooter, the group's minor-hit song from the soundtrack was her most chart-topping hit. Kotero broke off from Prince following an argument over the course of their careers. Apollonia 6 broke up after their fallout. After appearing in minor films (and as of the reports, refusing to take part on her role in the Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon) her name was mentioned and she was cast in the 1985-1986 nighttime drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia finally released her debut in 1988 but the comparatively insignificant collection of dance and R&B songs did not impress the music-buying public and the album soon vanished off the shelves. She continued acting (if somewhat obscure) in the next decade. The small roles on TV, minor films, and exercise videos kept her busy. In 1997 Apollonia recorded a bilingual album in Spanish and English named Stay with Me. After that, she went back to college and earned a filmmaking degree, and formed her own production firm, which mainly focuses on the field of children's TV. Apollonia has many hats.
